Dear Readers
The whole world is not as lively as before ever since the ‘silent sniper’ of the world– COVID 19 — made its first appearance in China on December 31.
The rogue reality of the deadly virus in the fourth month of Gregorian calendar best rhymes with TS Eliot’s The Waste Land
April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
And the cruelest month would be remembered as the death toll from COVID-19 crossed 1.25 lakh in the world. Everything is marching forward, yet there is no such beckoning that would give a faint ray of hope. Even the most romantic place in the world, Paris, has been shut down to the people.
The COVID 19 has yet to reach its culmination. Wuhan was the first hotspot of the virus but the world is now under its contagious attack. People are counting every second now as the last second to be with the loved ones as much as possible especially in Itally and America.
The Bengali New Year 1422 is starting without any proper welcome from the Bengalees. Within the three months of outbreak of COVID-19 has infected as many as 20 lakh across the world by mid-April. Day by day people are becoming more and more anxious and stricken by dreadful demeanour of the deadly disease for the invisiblity and strike rate. Even Disney is losing its magic while the world needs its magic more than ever.
The economic crisis all over the world is progressing more linearly than usual which would be causing a greater crisis in future specially poor countries are on the edge of collapse . In a country like Bangladesh, we are also afraid that the famine may hit people hard particularly the low-income groups. Hope you will like the cover story.
Hope to see you soon.
