Editorial
Dear readers
Assalamu alaikum. Hope you are in good mood with good food for your stomach and thought as well. You may have been enjoying the Rio Olympic Games since the moment it began. Though Olympic is for records and records are for Olympic this Olympic is exceptional for it is being dominated by Michael Phelps with 24 golds, Usain Bolt with three gold medals in three consecutive 100 metres and 200 metres and some others. For the first time in history women wearing hijab have joined Rio Olympic. Egyptians women in burkini played with German girls in bikini as the spirit of this greatest show of world sports have become more accommodating in policy and practices. It became ‘bikini versus burkini’ or some said ‘clash of civilization’. Ibtihaj Mohammad is an American who participated in Olympic Games wearing hijab. This Olympic is also for an athlete, Fehaid Al-Deehani, without state who won gold. She is a member of refugee Olympic team, representing the refugees like Syrians, Rohingya of Myanmar, Roma or gypsies. More practicing Muslim women are inspired to keep pace with their male counterparts even in the Olympic Games. Hope you will like the cover story which covers the Olympic Games in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro.
See you next inshaAllah.
