Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah. Hope you are keeping well by the mercy of the most merciful who spared us from the trail of devastation of the Cyclone Mocha. We are passing through the time of dwindling democracy in the world which has been experiencing increasing muzzling of free speech. Even people are not free on social media. Self-censoring on part of journalists is also rampant in the presence of authoritarian governments. Democratic backsliding is happening in countries with the weakening of the democratic institutions like anti-corruption commission, election commission etc. Bangladesh stands 73rd among 167 countries in the world, according to Democracy Index 2022 of Economist Intelligence Unit. So we are running the cover story on ever-sliding democratic spaces. Hope you will like the story.

We need to value our time, reduce our screen time, and invest more and more time in reading. We need to count every second so that we can grow as competent professionals because some talented professionals are running the world. So students need to use their time properly. I know, it is easy to say but difficult to do. We wish good luck to the students who are sitting for SSC, O Levels, Dakhil and other equivalent examinations.
