Health tips for Summer Dr. Imranur Rahman
Hello readers! Hope you all are well in this hot summer days. Today I’m going to discuss how to stay well in this weather.
Drink plenty of water in summer. Water helps to maintain internal body temperature. Whenever temperature of our body increases, body regulates it by sweating. Water and salt are lost from the body by sweating. Do not let the sweat dry on your body. Wipe it out by handkerchief or tissue or towel. Excessive sweating can cause dehydration. When we become dehydrated we feel thirsty. Dizziness, vertigo, blurring of vision, dry tongue, headache etc are the symptoms of dehydration. If we don’t replace body water quickly, many problems may occur. Drink normal water, green coconut water, fruit juice etc. normal saline is also very helpful in this condition as it contains salts. Some prefer to drink cold drinks, ice cream, energy drinks etc to relieve thirst. That is a very bad habit. This does more harm than cooling it. It increases blood sugar and fat. Besides sudden cooling of throat may cause tonsillitis, upper respiratory tract infections as cold environment of throat is favorable for multiplication of bacteria. Just drinking plain water or adding some cold water with it is more than enough. Drink 12-15 glasses of water every day.
Try to avoid rich foods. Give some rest to your intestine. Eat vegetables as much as you can. It helps in your digestion, keeps your bowel clear and prevents constipation. Chance of food poisoning is also very less.
Try to avoid direct sunlight. Use an umbrella when you go outside during day time. It may not be fashionable but it will protect you from ultraviolet rays of the sun. You can also use sun block to protect your skin. Spf-15 or Spf-40 sun block creams are enough. Use sunglass to protect your eyes.
If you work in an airconditioned room, don’t make the temperature of AC very low. Try to keep it within 22-25°C. When you come out from a very cold room, your body can’t adjust with environment. You will lose lots of heat and water from body.
Maintain personal hygiene otherwise you will suffer from skin diseases. Take bath regularly in summer. You can have a bath before going to work in morning. Take another bath before sleeping at night. This will let you have a sound sleep.
That’s all for today. Don’t forget to enjoy sweet summer fruits.
