The Grand Escape of Madam H -Mehedi Hasan
Scene 1: The Rise of the Students
Panel 1: A bustling university campus. The sun is high, the air is electric, and students from all walks of life are gathered. Banners with slogans like “Restore Democracy!” and “Enough is Enough!” fill the frame. A megaphone-wielding student leader, Rafiq, stands atop a makeshift stage.
Rafiq: Friends, comrades, and victims of bad cafeteria food! We have suffered under the iron grip of Madam H for far too long. It’s time we write our own destiny!
Crowd (in unison): Restore democracy! Power to the people!
Scene 2: An Ivory Tower
Panel 2: Madam H, wearing an opulent silk sari and sunglasses, lounges in a grand office. Her throne-like chair is surrounded by portraits of herself in various dramatic poses. A sycophantic advisor, Mukul, nervously adjusts his tie as he delivers bad news.
Mukul: Madam, the students are revolting.
Madam H: Of course, they are. They’ve always been revolting.
Mukul stares blankly.
Madam H: Oh, for goodness’ sake! What do they want this time? Free Wi-Fi? More avocado toast?
Scene 3: The Plot Thickens
Panel 3: A secret meeting of student leaders is underway in a dimly lit room. A map of Dhaka is spread out, marked with pins and red circles.
Rafiq: We need to cut her off from her power source.
Tania (a tech-savvy student): You mean her media propaganda machine? Her control over the police?
Rafiq: No. Her tea supply. We take that out, and she’ll crumble within hours.
Everyone stares at him, confused.
Rafiq: Okay, okay. We also block her social media bots and expose her offshore bank accounts.
Scene 4: The Siege of Power
Panel 4: Students march to the gates of the Prime Minister’s residence. Placards read “TikTok Freedom Now!” and “No More Dancing to Her Tunes!”
Guard (to Rafiq): You can’t enter without an appointment.
Rafiq: We brought one. (He hands over a giant, obviously fake calendar marked with “Appointment to Restore Democracy – TODAY.”)
Guard (scratching head): Seems legit.
Scene 5: Madam H’s Meltdown
Panel 5: Inside her lavish dining room, Madam H furiously stirs a teacup as news of the student uprising blares from a giant TV.
Madam H (muttering): Ungrateful brats… after all the free umbrellas I handed out during election season!
Mukul: Madam, I think it’s time we, uh, explore alternative strategies.
Madam H (eyebrow raised): You mean like… actually listening to them?
Mukul (horrified): No, no, I mean running!
Scene 6: The Great Escape
Panel 6: Under the cover of night, a helicopter emblazoned with “H Airways” hovers over the rooftop of the Prime Minister’s residence. Madam H clutches her favorite tea set as Mukul struggles to carry her 20 suitcases.
Madam H: India will welcome me with open arms. They always did love my autographed photos.
Mukul (grunting): Yes, Madam. About those…
Scene 7: Youth Takeover
Panel 7: A bright morning. The students have occupied the grand office. Rafiq sits in Madam H’s chair, balancing a megaphone in one hand and a cup of tea in the other.
Tania (smiling): So, what’s first on the agenda?
Rafiq: We ban bad cafeteria food. And no more mandatory selfies with leaders.
Everyone cheers.
Scene 8: Democracy Restored?
Panel 8: A final shot of a bustling city, full of color, hope, and laughter. Newspapers read: “Madam H Flees! Students Reclaim Freedom!”
Caption: For the first time in 16 years, the air smells of freedom and freshly brewed democracy. n
