Hazrat Ibn Masud reported that the messenger of Allah said: The person who recites a single letter of Allah’s Kitab (the gracious book of Allah) gets His grace and the quantity of this grace is ten times greater. I don’t say that ‘Alif,Lam, Mim’ is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter(Tirmizi) Miskat-ul-Masabih Vol. 3

The merits of reciting the Qur’an are numerous

Dear readers, it is clear to us that Allah the Almighty has revealed the gracious Qur’an to show us the right and honest path. The achievement and success of a nation depends on the recitation and study of the gracious Qur’an. This success will come when we read it with understanding and materialize the instructions of the gracious Qur’an in our society. The parents of the person, who will work according to the gracious Qur’an after studying it, will wear such a crown on the day of judgement that its light will be even brighter than sunlight. The prestige and status of that individual will soar beyond our current comprehension. There is a Hadith in the Bukhari our dearest Prophet sallalahu alaihi wa sallam said: The house where the Qur’an is recited looks as bright as the stars to the dwellers of the heaven.

Al-Qur’an is the only path of salvation

The Al-Qur’an outlines the path that leads to salvation in both this world and the afterlife. This Qur’an has presented to human beings a clear description of truth and falsehood, good and bad, heaven and hell. It is a protector and carrier of world humanity. The Qur’an is the storehouse of knowledge. It is the most honourable book and the largest encyclopaedia of information.

Recite the Qur’an with special care

Merely recitation of the gracious Qur’an can hardly bring benefit. The benefit of reciting the Qur’an depends on how we implement its message in our personal, social, economic, educational, and political lives, and how we work in accordance with its demands to establish a society based on the Qur’an. That’s why we have to recite the gracious Qur’an with care, try to understand it, and strive to implement its teachings in every spare moment of our lives.
