Dear Friends,
Assalamu Alaikum. Hope you’re keeping well at the cost of the lives of over 1500 July martyrs and also at the cost of the limbs of thousands of others. Some have returned home after treatment abroad, while some are still battling the loss of eyes, hands, or legs. The martyrs have potential stories that can be preserved. Their killers must be identified. The injured July survivors have a lot more to tell the people about the white fangs of the fascists, the snipers, the goons, and the immense suffering they have undergone. The July martyrs and the survivors are not mere numbers. Their stories should be filmed, recorded, and archived so that the future generations don’t forget about the heroic chapters of their motherland.

Now the question is, who will do the work? Media or state. None will do collection and preservation, probably because most of the media are Islamophobic and pro-Indian. The ruling party is in a dilemma regarding the preservation of the July 36 narrative, despite their significant contribution to the uprising. Though many of their activists laid down their lives to unseat the fascist, for some unknown reasons, the rulers may not be willing to take government projects to collect and archive the stories. The Islamophobic media have a responsibility to push the issue into the long grass and delegitimize and remove the July Uprising from public discourse. Therefore, the responsibility for preserving the history of July 36 falls on the people.
