The Essence of the Holy Qur’an
He who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed- and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.
(Surah no. 67, al-Mulk, Verse no. 02)
Death does not mean the end of life
Dear brothers and sisters, remember that death can never be the end of life, for had it been so, the end of the good and the bad would be one and the same. Furthermore, allowing both good and bad lives to end in extinction would contradict Divine justice. To imagine the one who suffered miseries, tortures and painful death for the sake of goodness under the Divine command of Allah and the one who lived in vice and all sorts of sinful luxuries and criminal enjoyments prohibited by Allah to be levelled together is opposed to reasoning and justice.
Islam demands a Muslim to believe in the return of everything to the Lord for the final judgement of every soul with regard to its faith and actions. There are repeated declarations in the Holy Quran, informing man of that Day and warning him to be guarded in his life on earth, against the last Day, which is sure to take place. It is this conviction that would keep man on the right track, duly guarded against his accountability.
After death, all human beings will assemble before Allah to be rewarded or punished according to each one’s earning of virtue or vice in this life. The present life is only a season for cultivation or effort, and life after death will be the period of harvest or the result.
Therefore, we must always remember that the Dunya and all its wealth are temporary, but the wealth and comforts of Jannah are eternal. Do we want to trade Jannah’s eternal comforts for Dunya’s fleeting wealth (which is no more than a mosquito’s wing)? Surely, we are acting foolishly if we prioritise temporary wealth over eternal comforts.
May Allah provide us the ability to understand the insignificance of the world and to work for the permanent world and permanent peace & tranquillity.
