APOPTOSIS -Md. Kausar Uddin Ahmed
A leaf from a tree does fall,
When its time is up and done.
A cell in the body does stall,
When its course is run and gone.
A program runs inside them,
A script of death and decay.
A signal triggers the system,
A switch that says: “Go away.”
When winter fades away,
A leaf makes room for new.
When flesh begins to fray,
A cell gives birth anew.
But sometimes things go wrong,
The program fails to run.
The cell stays for too long,
The leaf clings to the sun.
Then trouble starts to brew,
The balance is upset.
The old blocks out the new,
The growth becomes a threat.
Or sometimes death comes right,
Yet still the program starts.
The cell gives up the fight,
The leaf tears from its parts.
Then grief invades the heart,
The wound is hard to heal.
The void can’t be part,
The loss too much to feel.
