In the light of the Holy Hadith
Love of the Prophet (pbuh) is the sign of Imaan
Hazrat Anas (R.A.A.) reported that our dearest Prophet (pbuh) has said: None of you believe until I am more beloved to him than his child, his parent, and all people. (al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Love of the Prophet
Dear brothers and sisters, among the basics of faith are love for humanity’s leader and the seal of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). How can a Muslim not love his Prophet (pbuh) when he is the means of his guidance to the path of enlightenment and belief, as well as his salvation from disbelief and hellfire? In fact, one’s love for the Prophet (pbuh) should be greater than his love for himself. Once upon a day, Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (R.A.A.) said to him, “O Messenger of Allah, you are more beloved to me than everything except me.” The Prophet (pbuh) replied, “No, by the one in whose hand is my soul—not until I am more beloved to you than yourself.” Then Umar (R.A.A.) said, “Now, by Allah, you are more beloved to me than myself.” So the Prophet (pbuh) said, “Now, you have become my real believer.
The claim of love is not enough
Many disobedient Muslims claim to love the Prophet (pbuh). However, the issue is not one of professed love but of actual love. For among the requirements of love for the Prophet (pbuh) is obedience to his orders, avoidance of what he prohibited, and to worship Allah only as he prescribed and not according to innovations and whims. That is why the Prophet (pbuh) said, “All of my Ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse.”
The way to express the love of the Prophet (pbuh) is as follows:
Celebrations, ceremonies, or poetry containing unlawful exaggeration do not express love for the Prophet (pbuh). Rather, it is by acting according to his Sunnah, observing his legislation, and advocating his guidance. It encompasses safeguarding his Sunnah, adhering to his teachings, honouring his words, seeking blessings upon his mention, and steering clear of any deviations from his religious teachings. It also includes love for his companions, defence of them, and acknowledgement of their virtues. Those who act otherwise are as far from the Prophet’s love as he is from his teachings.
