Editorial
Dear Readers,
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah. We hope you are in the best of health and mental peace, braving all the challenges and headwinds you encounter in life. Everyone born into this world faces challenges, yet we can still find ways to make life easier. Scholars and scientists continuously think about the unease of human life and strive to find ways to alleviate it. Sane scientists invent machines, technologies, and gadgets to ease our burdens, and one such remarkable advancement is Artificial Intelligence (AI).
AI has significantly benefited the service sector, enhancing efficiency and productivity. However, it has also led to job displacement for some individuals within the industry. Unlike humanist scientists and inventors, some engineers, particularly those who worked for Silicon Valley in the US, invent without considering the ethical implications. These engineers, often pampered by high salaries from crony corporations, rarely reflect on whether their projects will be destructive or constructive for humanity.
In light of these concerns, we believe people should have the right to refuse destructive scientific projects. As a result, we have chosen “Ghost in the Machine” as the cover story for this issue of Youth Wave. We hope you find the story thought-provoking and insightful. We look forward to returning next month with another pressing issue, InshaAllah.
