So the governments levy direct tax, VAT, land rent, duty, customs, fine etc and Islam inspires its followers to give jakat, sadkatul fitre, oshr, kharaz, kaffara for missing fasting and prayers all aim at giving services to the citizens in return and alleviating poverty along with stopping concentration of wealth. People’s welfare always lies one of the greatest concerns of a government particularly of a welfare state. Any sort of extravaganza or waste of wealth may hamper the poverty alleviation programme.
