Be among the truthful

“O you who believe! Reverence your Lord, and be among the truthful.” (Surah 9. al-Tawbah, Verse – 119)

Dear brothers and sisters,
Who wants to introduce himself as a liar? We never ever want to be identified as a liar. We all want that people should call us as honest and truthful. But we have to lie something every day. It’s not that we always tell lies knowingly, sometimes we tell lies unconsciously or unwillingly, sometimes we tell lies to maintain a relationship or to get through some difficult situation. Usually, we tell lies to get an instant and easy solution to all our troubles of life.
Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It’s about widening your knowledge and absorbing the truth of life. The Holy Prophet was asked about the means of getting perfection. He replied: Truthfulness in talk and action with sincerity. In Islamic terminology, the man who has got these six things is called Siddiq or a great truthful man. The man who has got one or more of these things is called Sadiq or simple truthful man – (1) truth in talk, (2) truth in will and resolve, (3) truth in promise, (4) truth in fulfilling promise, (5) truth in action, (6) truth in various stages of religion. Honesty is more than just not lying. It is telling truth, speaking truth, living truth, and loving the truth.
Lying is not just a sin, it’s like an addiction. It is a deadly bad habit like cigarette or liquor. Nobody can easily stop lying although he wants. To stop lying a man have to fight and struggle with himself. Otherwise, Lies will lead us to frustration and suicide. The Prophet (?) said, “Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to evil-doing, and evil-doing leads to the Hell, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar. So we should be among the truthful, and we should stand for truth, no matter who tells it.
