The importance of reading al-Qur’an
Hazrat Usman (R.A.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: The best of you is he who has learnt the Qur’an and then taught it.
Dear readers today we like discuss the importance of learning the glorious Qur’an. Now let us know about al-Qur’an.
What is al-Qur’an?
Al-Qur’an is the complete book of guidance for mankind. Al-Qur’an is revealed by Allah the al-Mighty for His servants. It is a doubtless and complete book. It is a book of guidance for those conscious of Allah. Al-Qur’an brings mankind out of darkness into the light by permission of Allah. It was sent down to Muhammad (pbuh) through the angel Jibrail. It is the sacred book of the Muslims and the main source of Law in Islam. It is a book of knowledge. It is the only solution for humanity.
Why we have to learn al-Qur’an?
We know that the first word of the Qur’an is (Iqra) as mentioned in surah al-Alaq in verse no. 01. This word was mentioned in the Qur’an three times. Iqra is a very comprehensive word. It instructed Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his followers to read, recite, rehearse, proclaim aloud, write, understand, share and propagate by all possible means. Secondly, Iqra was mentioned in the same surah in verse no. 03 to stress its importance. The Islamic scholars have said it means that, what you have learned earlier that we have to practice and implement as well. Similarly we have to preach the knowledge we achieved among others. Thirdly, Iqra was mentioned in Surah al-Isra in verse no: 17. It means; [It will be said], “Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant.”
Therefore it should be clear to us that in the above verse, Allah the Almighty ordered His each servant individually to read, to learn, to know etc. One Islamic scholar has said: No one can count himself educated unless he has read al-Qur’an, the best gift ever given to mankind. May Allah the Almighty give us ability to read the to know and to follow.
